Mica Band Heaters

Mica Insulated Band Heaters are easily serviceable money-saving solutions for the heating requirements of multiple applications. Mica has excellent dielectric durability and heat transfer characteristics. The mica core is sheathed in a corrosion resistant case and formed into a band. The mica heater sheath is limited to a temperature of 850 F, but offers the advantage of accommodating holes and cutouts. The mica band heater technology is most often seen in the plastics industry, but its versatility has allowed it to find its way into many other industries besides plastics.

DT Heaters & Controls can provide you with almost any size Mica Band Heater you need. We use only top grade mica components to produce a thin efficient heater. The thickness of each mica layer is carefully selected to assure proper balance between the insulating characteristics of mica and the ease of heat transfer from the heater to the part. All full Mica Band Heaters are designed with closed ends to protect against contamination.

Cast-In Band Heaters

Cast Band Heaters are the most robust of the band heater family. This type of heater is an excellent choice for applications where shock, vibration or contamination is an issue. They can be made with or without liquid or air cooling. Liquid cooling integrates tubing cast in as part of the heater assembly, allowing water or heat transfer solutions to remove the heat. Air cooling uses fins cast to the O. D. surface of the band heater. Blowers and specially designed shrouds aid in heat dissipation.

If properly installed, operated and serviced cast-in heaters will provide long, dependable, trouble-free service life. Cast Band Heaters can be manufactured into almost any design to meet the requirements of your heating application.

Mineral Insulated (MI) Band Heaters

Rugged construction along with the ability to operate at high temperatures and watt densities allow the Mineral Insulated Band Heater to exceed all other band heaters in providing the ever increasing temperatures required for processing today’s high tech materials.   The advanced construction and thin build allow the quick transfer of heat from the element to the sheath for efficient operation up to 1400° F, and watt densities as high as 200 watts per square inch are possible.

The Mineral Insulated Band Heater can stand up to shock, vibration and many contaminants long after other band heaters have failed.   In normal use, and even in the most difficult application, the Mineral Insulated Band Heaters improved performance, will improve machine productivity and reduce machine downtime.

Ceramic Band Heaters

Ceramic Band Heaters were specifically designed to boost operation efficiency and to reduce energy consumption. Because of the exceptional insulating properties, less heat escapes to the air and less wattage is required to maintain barrel temperature. With the majority of the heat going directly to your process, the Ceramic Band Heater gives off much less heat to ambient air than other band heater technologies. Also because the exterior surface stays cooler the heater is safer. Ceramic Band Heaters transfer heat through both radiation and conduction so a perfect fit is not required as with other heaters. This makes Ceramic Band Heaters an excellent choice for barrels & cylinders with rugged surfaces which may need to operate at very high Temperatures.

Insulating Jackets

Our Insulating Jackets are designed and manufactured with high-quality and high temperature, state of the art insulating materials and heat-resistant thread.  The Insulating Jackets are designed for easy removal and replacement and can even have vents and water drainage to help prevent corrosion under the insulation.
